I appreciate a band that doesn't take themselves too seriously. As far as I'm concerned, the hate-machine for Nickelback is powered mainly by trend-whores and bandwagon jumpers. If everyone that claimed to hate them truly hated them, they wouldn't be repeatedly selling platinum albums, and playing stadiums to capacity. While they may leave something to be desired from a lyrical standpointt, Nickelback knows how to rock out. They know how to play their instruments. They know how to hit you with a wall of guitar that you just don't get from rock bands these days, in this climate of low-fi indy pseudo-rock, and disposable, formulaic top-40 pop. I agree, the VH situation IS a little different... I don't have a problem with their upcoming tour and album (I'm "over it"). ;-) But, I WAS disappointed when they reformed a few years ago without Michael Anthony ... mainly because he's still alive and well (thank you, Johnny Winter) not to mention, he was ready, willing and able to take part in a reunion of the original band. After all, it's what the fans wanted and Eddie and Alex came off as being petty control freaks, which is also what I think of Gene and Paul concerning KISS. Not that they should have had to suffer from Ace and Peter's substance abuse problems and flakey behavior for the rest of their careers. I'm reading Ace Frehley's new book, No Regrets, and it offers another point of view that I always suspected/knew ... that Gene has NO sense of humour and is obsessed with money, sex and stroking his ego (who knew)? No wonder Ace drank!! BUT, back to Sabbath ... Ozzy, Tony and Geezer should realize that anything short of the full-fledged ORIGINAL LINE-UP will be a huge disappointment for the fans. Now, when it comes to KISS, and only from one point of reference, just over 10 years ago, I had a four original members together for an interview, and other than Gene and Paul, all I got was giggles and groans. Or maybe they were told not to say much, which begs the question why were they there? As for Sabbath, if Bill can play, he should def. be a part of the reunion, as an equal member. The Halen thing is annoying, for some fans, no doubt, mind you so long as nobody's touting it as a reunion (other than that of DLR with VH), I'm ok with it.
