I saw Alexisonfire play Edgefest on Saturday and even in the rain and the mud, the crowd just lost their sh*t. Brilliant.

Turns out they have a hometown gig TONIGHT (June 23) at L3 in downtown St. Catharines. What better place to celebrate the release of their new album? If you know the place, you’ll know that it’s gonna be hot and sweaty up on the third level.

Structurally, I’m sure it will be fine. But please watch yourself against the railing at the back. You don’t want to suddenly end up on the first level, which is about thirty feet down.

Alexisonfire to perform at MySpace Secret Show in St.Catharines, ON

TORONTO, ON – June 22, 2009 – MySpace Canada today announced that St. Catharines’ very own, Alexisonfire, will be headlining its next Secret Show in St. Catharines on Tuesday June 23, 2009. The band’s latest album OLD CROWS / YOUNG CARDINALS will be released across Canada June 23, 2009 and MySpace fans will be the first to hear their new tracks live!

Fans are invited to come and experience what is sure to be Alexisonfire’s greatest album yet. Admission to the MySpace Secret Show is free and capacity is limited. Doors open at 8:00 pm. MySpace Secret Shows are all ages, first come, first served events.

Alexisonfire rose up out of St. Catharines, ON, in late 2001. The band, comprised of George Pettit, Dallas Green, Wade MacNeil, Chris Steele and Jordan Hastings, defiantly made inroads into the mainstream market with their self-titled release in 2002. The band’s previous album CRISIS debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart. Since exploding onto the scene in 2001, Alexisonfire has earned numerous awards including a 2007 Juno award for Group of the year.

Past Canadian MySpace Secret Shows have included performances by: Billy Talent, Bedouin Soundclash, Stars, Boys Like Girls, Tokyo Police Club, Protest The Hero, Joel Plaskett Emergency and Classified.
