When speaking of Rudely Interrupted, that line from The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” isn’t terribly off the mark. Nor is it in any way meant to be mean-spirited, insulting or otherwise pejorative.
Rudely Interrupted is a six-piece band from Australia. Five of them have some kind of mental or physical disability, ranging from blindness to deafness to Down syndrome. Rory Burnside, the singer, was born without eyes and lives with Asperger’s yet has perfect pitch.
This is NOT a novelty act or some kind of “gee look what we can do” cover band. This is a serious group making serious music—and are seriously impressing people all over the world. Feist and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are big supporters.
