This is the first Broken Social Scene album in five years. A core six-piece who had spent most of 2007 and 2008 on the road (Drew, Canning, Spearin, Whiteman, Goldberg, Lobsinger and Peroff) and spent early 2009 working on new material in Toronto.
The pairing down of the band’s massive personnel list for the first time proved extremely fruitful; resulting in more cohesive, melody-driven compositions than previous BSS output. They recorded in both Toronto and Chicago with producer John McEntire.
The album features guest turns by BSS alumni: Leslie Feist, Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw of Metric, Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of Stars, Jason Collett and Ohad Benchetrit of Do Make Say Think and Years

I remember a CD store in St. Catharines, ON called “Station to Station” which I used to frequent often. They had listening stations where you could sample new music to your hearts content…this was way before HMV and other record stores were doing it.
Fast forward to today and I can still sample new music such as this (Broken Social Scene) via ExploreMusic. It’s not the same as it used to be. I can’t physically hold the CD or read through the inner booklet anymore. But at least I can still get a sense of the sound…which is the most important part. And to be able to hear an album before its official release date makes me feel extra special!
Thanks so much for your continued commitment to new music! I truly appreciate it.

You know what is lame? I want to listen to the whole album while I work but when I click play, it only plays one song at a time.
Does anyone know how to make the player just play all the songs without having to click on each and click play?
