Weezer Talks About Their Raditude

Before I went to talk to all four members of Weezer yesterday, I looked to see if anyone had every released an album with the title “Raditude” in the history of rock.  Apparently not—or, at least I couldn’t find one.

Weezer has been road testing new tracks ahead of the album’s October 27th release date.  This included a show at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto last night (August 23) and just after soundcheck, I had a few minutes with everyone from the band.

By the way, the show was excellent.  With a truncated set (as Blink-182’s opening act, Weezer was only allotted 60 minutes), the band wisely focussed on their biggest songs.

Dressed in identical orange road construction crew jumpsuits—the effect was a cross between a prison gang and Devo without the hats—they tore through their most popular songs, reinforcing how much of a hit machine these guys really are.  Rivers’ moustache is gone, but he’s back to the glasses.  With the jumpsuit, I kept thinking I was watching Rick Moranis in Ghostbusters.

Solid show.  Lots of singalongs.  The Weezer kids went home happy.
