Indie Track

Forest City Lovers: “Light You Up”

2 years ago by Adam Morrison |

This is the Indie Track of the Day Giveaway. It’s just like it sounds—every day we spotlight a song from an indie band/artist and we let you keep the track to do with whatever you like (within the limits of the law).

The song is part of our podcast, so if you want it (you do), search on iTunes for the ExploreMusic.com podcast, or just scroll down to the bottom of this page and click the links.

Kat Burns was a solo singer-songwriter when she moved to Toronto (from Whitby) for school in 2004. Eventually, she got her friends and peers together to form Forest City Lovers, a band whose influences include Azure Ray, Neil Young, and Sufjan Stevens.

The nature-loving band followed up their independently released debut, 2006′s The Sun and the Wind, with their sophomore album, Haunting Moon Sinking, in 2008.

Phodilus and Tyto, a 7-inch released at the end of 2009, paved the way for Forest City Lovers’ full-length follow-up, Carriage, which comes out later this month.
