This is the Indie Track of the Day Giveaway. It’s just like it sounds—every day we spotlight a song from an indie band/artist and we let you keep the track to do with whatever you like (within the limits of the law).
The song is part of our podcast, so if you want it (you do), search on iTunes for the ExploreMusic.com podcast, or just scroll down to the bottom of this page and click the links.
The essence of Moneen’s music is pop, punk, and rock. After three albums, a Juno-nominated DVD, and other releases including a 2005 split CD with Alexisonfire (on which the bands covered each others’ songs), these Brampton natives released a new record in September.
The World I Want to Leave Behind finds the band experimenting with different instruments, and it’s their first album with new drummer Steve Nunnaro—former drummer Peter Krpan left to start a solo project.
“We weren’t trying to reinvent ourselves as much as we were trying out some things that we would have been scared of on previous records,” says frontman Kenny Bridges.
Listen to “Believe,” one track from Moneen’s latest release, and check out Moneen’s MySpace page.
