This is the Indie Track of the Day Giveaway. It’s just like it sounds—every day we spotlight a song from an indie band/artist and we let you keep the track to do with whatever you like (within the limits of the law).
The song is part of our podcast, so if you want it (you do), search on iTunes for the ExploreMusic.com podcast, or just scroll down to the bottom of this page and click the links.
Preachers Son is Dubliners Brian Hogan (Kíla) and Emmaline Duffy-Fallon (previously of Engine Alley), who have been together since 2009.
The band is named after Brian Hogan’s father, Larry, who was part of the Irish 60s folk scene with his group We 4 and who scored a number one album in 1974 with Simple Song Of Love, which led him to preaching and teaching through music before he died in 1998.
Hogan and Duffy-Fallon describe their music “like a David Byrne, Scott Walker collaboration, or Queen’s greatest hits circa 1980 vs Morrison Hotel. A Led Zeppelin / Leonard Cohen crossover sort of Johnny Cash, Duane Eddie, Bowie doing Talking Heads kinda thing.”
Preachers Son’s debut album, Love Life and Limb, was mixed by Dave Bascombe (Placebo, Korn, Goldfrapp, Depeche Mode).

Awesome!
What a great sound, I love this.
Pretty much anything that Gavin Friday is involved in work for me (sadly these are few and far between). Thanks for the song.
