This is the Indie Track of the Day Giveaway. It’s just like it sounds—every day we spotlight a song from an indie band/artist and we let you keep the track to do with whatever you like (within the limits of the law).
The song is part of our podcast, so if you want it (you do), search on iTunes for the ExploreMusic.com podcast, or just scroll down to the bottom of this page and click the links.
The latest release from The Paperbacks is Lit From Within, a 32-track double-album that finds the Winnipeg band heading in many interesting musical and lyrical directions.
The band has gone through several lineup changes since forming in 2001. Remaining from the original lineup are songwriter Doug McLean and bassist Jaret McNabb, and the new lineup also includes guitarist Kevin Andrechuk, drummer Corey Biluk, and keyboardist Kevin McLean.
The new album was produced by McNabb, who also produced the band’s debut, An Episode of Sparrows—The Weakerthans’ John K Samson produced their second album, An Illusion Against Death—and guest musicians include Jahmeel Russell (Projektor, Kittens), Alison DeGroot, and Rosalyn Dennett (Oh My Darling), Mike Koop (The Bonaduces, The Kicker), Andrew Filyk (Anthem Red, The City Champs), and former Paperback Ian LaRue.
