Interviews

ExploreMusic Chats with Said The Whale

3 years ago by Ira Haberman |

Said the Whale isn’t a household name necessarily, but they should be. They’ve just released their sophomore record Islands Disappear, and I for one believe that this record makes them serious Polaris Prize contenders. The album is what a good Canadian indie record should be. A blend of great songwriting, inspired playing and beautiful voices and production. We don’t make a habit of saying how much we enjoy records cause we hear so many great records, but for me, this album stands out. Having met the band, I know why. They are genuine people, who have made a genuine record.

I sat down with Ben, Tyler and Jaycelyn last week during a tour stop in Toronto to get their take on their new record, the Vancouver music scene, and life in general. Besides the interview, we were treated to three really songs which we feature below for your streaming pleasure.
