We’ve been chatting for about forty-five minutes now and it’s close to 1am. There’s a show in Detroit tomorrow and I’m sure Courtney would like to get some sleep.
“Please,” she says with a wave of her arm. “I’m only going to curl up in bed, take a Xanax and read my girlie books.”
“What are you reading these days?”
She grins. “Wanna see? “ She runs over and grabs an iPad. “I’m on the periphery of this high society, so I like to read about what these people do.” On the screen are books by people like Candance “Sex in the City” Bushnell.
“TAYLOR? HOW DO I GET ONLINE IN THIS PLACE?”
Taylor rushes back in to the dressing room with the password to the club’s WiFi. Once we’re logged in, Courtney shows me the unique way she chooses what book to read next. It’s an interesting formula that only someone like Courtney could pull off. She swears me to secrecy.
“Getting back to Twitter for a second,” I say, “You have a unique way of, er, expressing yourself. Do you use your iPhone?”
“Hell, no,” she replies with a snort. “I use my Mac. I can’t figure out how to use Twitter on my iPhone. I’m such a Luddite.”
“Spelling and grammar aren’t much of an issue for you then?”
“No. I just want to get it out there. I go fast.”
We start talking about books again and when the subject bizarrely turns to people and places we both have in common, she looks at my voice recorder and says “Turn that off and I’ll tell you some stuff. It’s all gotta be off the record, though.” What followed was some interesting chat that means nothing to anyone except me and her. Turns out we have similar tastes and experiences in holiday destinations and know the same people. Who knew?
Saturday night has turned into early Sunday morning and it’s time to go. I wish her well with her crusade. She shakes my hand before getting quiet and serious again.
“I’m not crazy, even though people think I am. I’m going to see this through.”

great interview, I believe in courtney…i can identify with a lot of her challenges. she will pull it off just fine…hang tight courtney…you got what it takes, can’t listen to everyone else. only you, knows you and only you can make you what you what you are.
