Another Interesting Looking Movie on British Music

7 months ago by Alan Cross |

When I was growing up, I was fascinated by synthesizers. I could never properly play or program the damn things (no wonder I became a drummer), but I loved the sounds they could make.

But a lot of other people got it.  Keyboards synths made it possible to make sounds that had never been heard before in the entire history of the universe.  And if could figure out how to twiddle those knobs just right, you could make some pretty revolutionary music.  The result was everything from Depeche Mode to NIN.  Today, we have MGMT, Passion Pitt and Empire of the Sun.

There’s a new movie on the subject coming courtesy of BBC 4—and it looks great.

Came across this one a month ago or so. 8 of 9 parts are on youtube. Excellent doc for those of us that grew up on ’80′s synth pop.
