What this world needs is a good, unvarnished look at the history of the recording industry. There have been so many characters, creeps and crooks over the years that done right, a documentary would have a stranger than fiction quality to it.

Writer/director John Coon has been working on a film called Record Man for ages. I think I first saw this trailer two years ago—maybe more. It’s still in production (documentaries take forever because they’re expensive to make, often poorly funded and don’t have a great return on investment), but I’ve been told that the project is still on.

If the movie is half as good as the trailer, I can’t wait.
