If you know someone is really into a band, then finding something special to buy them shouldn’t be too hard. If you go to the band’s site and browse what they’ve got for sale, you’ll probably come across tour/limited edition merch, rare stuff, box sets, etc.. Searching Ebay works, too.
Here are a couple of limited edition items on sale right now:
The Devo Ultra Devo-lux Ltd. Edition package is a four-disc set including remastered versions of the Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! and Freedom Of Choice albums, the band’s first and third, with three previously unreleased demo tracks for each. Also included on the CDs is the rare Dev-O Live EP.
The first DVD focuses on a 2009 live performance of the entire debut album at the HMV Forum in London, and the second DVD features four classic video clips.
Seeing as how this is a truly Devo-lux—I swear the press release uses that word like six times—package, there’s some stuff that big fans will love, namely an original seven-inch coloured vinyl single of "Jocko Homo"/"Mongoloid," plus an original 18" x 30" foldout poster and 16-page booklet. There’s also the chance that the package will include an autographed vintage promo photo.
It costs $49.99 and the site emphasizes that it’s a limited run and it will probably sell out fast, although I don’t think it says anywhere exactly how limited a run it is. Anyway, Club Devo is the only place to get it.
If you’re shopping for a Pixies fan, you can click here to try to buy some audio of recent live performances of the Doolittle album. 1000 CDs and 500 wristbands were made of each show.
Update: You can also click here to buy the Pixies live recordings.
