On the night Barrack Obama became president, Deftones singer Chi Cheng hitched a ride with a friend.  For whatever reason, he didn’t fasten his seatbelt. 

Somewhere in the darkness, there was a crash.  Chi was thrown from the vehicle and suffered brain injuries.  For months, he’s floated in vegetative state requiring round-the-clock care.  And this being America, it’s resulted in the kind of health insurance nightmare that we hear about so often.

Chi’s finances have been drained and so have those of his family.  Fortunately, he has some very good friends who have been working to help Chi and his family through this horrible ordeal.

There was a benefit last Thursday and Friday. Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park was there.  So where the dudes from Cypress Hill and Incubus.  The Crue’s Tommy Lee showed up as did Robert Trujillo from Metallica, Dave Lombardo from Slayer, dudes from Suicidal Tendencies and three-quarters of System of a Down. 

There’s also an auction to help raise even more money.  The stuff on which you can bid is staggering.  Give it a look.
