There are more and `more bits of somewhat conflicting info coming in regarding whether or not Steven Tyler is leaving Aerosmith.
On Tuesday, Tyler appeared onstage with the Joe Perry Project, and he reportedly told the crowd, "I am not leaving Aerosmith."
However, Perry tells AP in a new interview that Tyler "was the last person I expected to see." Perry also says, "As it stands, Steven wants to take a couple years off and do some of whatever he wants to do and the rest of the band wants to keep working," and he adds, "The band is a really well-oiled machine and we’re going to work one way or another and I don’t know what form that’s going to take."
Do they need the services of a mediator before they can release a concrete statement? I know it’s going to be a while before Aerosmith gets back to recording or touring, but if they end up needing to look for a new vocalist, even temporarily, I think it would be fair for Tyler to give them the heads up.

Maybe Tyler and the rest of the band could all take a couple of years off. Then they (and we)could see if they’re really missed by anyone at all. Or they could just go to L.A. and slide into the La Brea Tar Pits like the rest of the dinosaurs did.
