Strokes Man Completes NYC Marathon Without Having a Stroke

11 months ago by Alan Cross |

Gotta hand it to Strokes bass player, Nikolai Fraiture, for doing something a lot of people wouldn’t even attempt. He ran in the New York City Marathon on Sunday, covering the traditional 26 miles and 385 yards in 4 hours, 23 minutes and 36 seconds. That was good for 23,347th place overall and 17,509th out of all the male contestants. It’s also 2 hours and 14 minutes slower than the winner, Meb Kelfizghli.

If you’re not a runner, that may not sound so impressive. But take it from me, a regular jogger: it’s pretty solid, especially for a guy who has lived a rock’n’roll lifestyle. The best part about Nikolai’s run is that he did it for Team for Kids, a charity that encourages physical fitness and nutrition programs through the US and Africa.

If you haven’t heard Nikolai’s side project, Nickel Eye, you can check them out here.
