Weezer has been most ubiquitous over the last few months leading up to today’s release of their seventh album, Raditude. One of the more, er, colourful bits of promo is their filming of an appearance on the kiddie show, Yo Gabba Gabba.
Their performance features the band dressed in costumes. Drummer Pat Wilson is a praying mantis, guitarist Brian Bell is a fruit fly and bass player Scott Schriner is a big ol’ ladybug. And Rivers? He’s a giant purple spider who sings lead on a song called “All My Friends Are Insects.”
(Uh, I don’t mean to get all entomological on everyone, but spiders are arachnids, not insects. And of course a spider’s best friends are insects; spiders eat insects. Read what you will into this Freudian symbolism regarding the dynamic within Weezer. Or not.)
The segment will air on Yo Gabba Gabba in the New Year. Meanwhile, here’s some video.
