		<description>Although this is very interesting (not to mention promising for all average looking males out there) it is not very new in terms of researching the effect of music on people. 

The European Journal of Scientific Research has published this paper detailing the various effects music has on buyers:

I think the general consensus is that the music is there to make people feel at ease, if they are at ease, they will be more likely to accept a proposition (in this case a request for a phone number, in other studies a price tag on an article in the store.)

My personal view on it is that these studies show that you can manipulate how people feel by playing the right music.  Make them feel lonely before talking to someone and they will give out a phone number....
