For fans of the great Roxy Music, and their leader Bryan Ferry, news:
Bryan Ferry has has announced a new solo album "Olympia" which will not only feature performances by his Roxy Music band mater (legendary guitarist Phil Manzanera and multi-instrumentalist Andy Mackay), it will also feature contributions from David Gilmour, Scissor Sisters and Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea.
Ferry’s last solo record, 2007′s Dylanesque, was a collection of Bob Dylan covers. For Olympia, he is returning to original material – with two exceptions: No Face, No Name, No Number (originally by the classic Steve Winwood lead band Traffic), and a cover of Tim Buckley’s Song to the Siren, known to many via the band This Mortal Coil.
Olympia will be released on 25 October, preceded by the single You Can Dance on 9 August.
Meanwhile, Roxy Music just headlined the ‘Lovebox Festival’ in London on Saturday July 17th, with plans to do more arena dates early in 2011.
For now, here’s a clip from Saturday’s gig, followed by a peformance that just last week, celebrated it’s 25th anniversary along with the most important charitable event in music history!
Enjoy,
Jeff.
