Films of Faith and Devotion.

Depeche Mode fans are among some of the most loyal and fanatical in the world. But when Mode was at their absolute peak in the late 80s/early 90s, following them was all about serious faith and devotion. I mean, you had to see it to believe it.

The worship was intense. You might think that some of that has died away as those fans grew up and moved on. Not so fast. There’s a new movie called The Posters Came from the Walls which documents that hardest of the hardcore Depeche Mode fans.

For example? Did you know that May 9th-Dave Gahan’s birthday-has been officially consecrated as Dave Day in Moscow since 1992? And that a church in Cambridge holds a DM-theme Goth mass? Oh, yes…

I don’t doubt the commitment of DM fans. We are everlasting….

Having met Dave Gahan by accident, as he wandered Sparks Street w/a roadie on the Exciter tour in Ottawa, with no one noticing him…. no one caring and having lived in Basildon (Essex) for a while, we are alive and well. While eventually my hair will grey and my body will sag, I will never stop being inspired by them.
