Get On Your Bikes and Ride!

Finally, Saturday, took my first ride of the season.  Getting a tune up before I put it away in October paid off, as the beast ripped and roared with but a few pops and pings, and carried me swiftly in and around the lake where mountains come out of the sky and stand there. (can’t help but love that lyric, especially since it actually applies).

The best thing a bike rider can do is never assume anyone can see you and at the same time, assume that NObody can see you.   Way less reasons to be upset when they don’t and pull out of a driveway, etc, in your way.

Safety starts with a great attitude and a really big motor, to get the hell out of harm’s way.

“Few things have captured the passion, the sometimes obsession, of men like the motorcycle. There’s no mystery as to why this is. Motorcycles represent a peculiar combination of several manly elements: danger, speed, singular focus, solitude, mechanics, noise, and physical skill”.    My thanks  to Darren, for passing along this cool link ….  ’Famous Men and their Motorcylces” -  click through to artofmanliness.com

I miss my bike – had to give it up for my (now ‘ex’) wife years ago & been feeling the itch awhile now … since my car died last week I’ve been thinking about a bike instead of the next car (moreso now) … have you seen the new Can-Am/BRP Spyder? – very interesting trike … Cheers!

yes, it’s not for me, but it’s definitely going to have more and more fans, is my guess. and, as you now know, spouses that say ‘no bikes in this house’ only serve to inspire one’s next move :)

  • Two things I learned on motorcycles is;make sure you have enough power to avoid accidents & when changing lanes mirrors do not matter, rubberneck, mirrors help when driver check the upcoming view of what is behind her or him, while in present lane.

Power and volume and eyes in the back of one’s head … all good. Cheers.
