Gordon Lightfoot Rumour put to bed here

2 years ago by Jeff Woods |

I was driving in the country when a msg came via facebook asking for confirmation of whether Gordon Lightfoot had really died.

Thankfully NO.

For the story, click HERE.

Now a favourite bit of Canadiana.

Enjoy!

    Hi Jeff

Hate to say it, but Gordon Lightfoot did in 3 hours what it took Jesus 3 days to do. Guess he’ll get a boost in royalties for a day at least.

Timeless Gem.My bud and i came home to a very excited woman of the house about six months ago.I am sure she had heard The Wreck many times but was so excited and gushing as she explained it to us.Bud and i just rolled our eyes and asked, woman where have you been for the last 30 plus years.A Canadian legend from a Canadian Great but the crew, all of them were Americans.Way to go Gordon.

Glad to hear Gordon is still with us. How wonderful it must be to actually hear of ones own death and to be witness to the reaction. Definitely a gift that very few receive.
Cheers Gordon, we luv ya in Orillia!-)

Not in efforts of making anyone feel older then they are, or while I’m at it make myself feel ancient… I remember this song from childhood, it actually strikes one of those deeply imbedded chords… I get softhearted and nostalgic. Same effect All the young dudes has, if ya can relate…

Have a good mornin’ Jeff !!!!

I love rock, but I also love Gordie’s music. He was one of the one’s who really got us going in Canada. I saw him on the BBC while visiting for the summer of 1963; loved him but didn’t know anything about him. Then at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton in 1965 as part of their now-defunct Klondike Days (Josh White Sr, Bud and Travis and someone else). That fall at Camp Fortune in the Gatineau for a CBC radio production. And only recently at Massey Hall a couple of times, after the aneurism. Hell, I thought we’d lost him then, so I had to get those tickets. Thanks for the vid, Jeff.

    Jeff,

Thanks for putting a stupid hoax to rest with a great song, video, Canadian icon and respect to the men on board.
