Another legend crossed off my short list! And what a gem, among the most celebrated guitarists ever.
I met up with Carlos Santana at the Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas, a few hours before he graced the stage at ‘The Joint’, to talk about a variety of things including: The September 21/201 release of the album ‘Guitar Heaven’, featuring Santana and more than a dozen guest vocalists, on an array of classic rock’s biggest songs. For example, Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell doing Zeppelin – Whole Lotta Love, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park doing The Doors – Riders on the Storm, and Joe Cocker reviving Hendrix – Little Wing.
Carlos also reveals what makes a song the ‘right song’ for a cover version, and how important it is what the original artist thinks of his cover versions, and Carlos will also share which bands over time, he most connects with.
Enjoy, and if you do, please share with your friends and co-workers.
Cheers,
Jeff.

He’s an amazing musician. Thanks for sharing the interview.
Santana was on Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night … and what a show! My favorite ever. The crowd went crazy!

What a great interview! Carlos’ insight and perspective on music is almost unchallenged. He is such a humble person that seems like the kind of person that you could just sit down and hang out with.
