Largest. Rock Festival. Ever.

Here’s a trivia question for you. What was the largest music festival ever held?

For years, it was the 1983 US Festival in San Bernardino, California. The event was backed by Steve Wozniak, one of the founders of Apple who had all this money to spend. According to official estimates more than 725,000 people attended the show that May weekend to see such bands as U2, the Pretenders, the Clash and David Bowie.

But that’s nothing. Estimates are that the 1985 Rock in Rio Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, attracted more than twice as many: 1.5 million people. In 1991, they held a show that pulled in 1.2 million. Try not to imagine the state of the porta-potties.
