Norway Bans the Ramones

Here is one of the stranger examples of guilt by association. 

I’m not sure what it is about Norway, but there’s a very strong, very militant black metal scene in the country. One of the things that some adherents have been known to do is burn down churches.  As you might guess, this has forced a lot of these bands deep underground. 

Now here’s the extra-weird part.  In 1994, a rather disturbed young man broke into a church and tore the place apart, causing thousands of dollars in damage.  When he was caught, the authorities noted that he was wearing a Ramones t-shirt.  As a result, the Ramones were banned from performing anywhere in Norway for the rest of their existence.
