As promised, a new Legends daily story, like the one’s you hear on the radio each day:
Jackson Browne Breaks Through
Though he was regarded as one of rock’s most promising singer songwriters, few pegged him as much of a rock and roll road warrior. But as it turned out, it was the road that gave this legend of classic rock his most successful album and signature songs. It was the summer of ’77 when Jackson Browne was on tour and feeling inspired to record some new music. But rather than hit the studio – he thought he’d try something a little different. Capture these new songs wherever he could. Like in front of an audience, backstage, in hotel rooms, on the tour bus. Wherever, whenever. Many of the songs were in fact about life on tour. ‘Nothing But Time’ , ‘The Road’, ‘The Load Out/Stay’, Cocaine. Interestingly, these new songs would be unveiled, not on a studio album, but live in concert, and then on the classic 1977 Jackson Browne album “Running On Empty”.
Play anything from Running on Empty

More than likely one of the most under rated singers out there.Being a long time fan I would say just about anything he did is worth listening to.But Running on Emty is a masterpiece

Wow, that’s crazy. Are you related to Kreskin? I was just reading the Seger entry and it got me thinking of a line, “just make sure you’ve got it all set to go / before you come for my piano” and was confirming my quote when i clicked back and here was THIS entry. AND, i saw Metallica last night who also covered that tune. If you have a sealed envelope with the queen of diamonds in it in gonna freak.
I guess there’s the more literal road songs for driving and the metaphorical road songs about touring. If we are going to discuss those i think we must mention On the Road by Max Webster. It’s a beauty, eh? “Fights and rights / embassies and fantasies
One street towns with stop lights / one stop streets with no towns–
I don’t need the patter / i don’t need assistance / to review the show”
I’ve always loved that. Don’t know why somebody doesn’t get smart and cover IT. Don’t know why somebody doesn’t play it once in a while…now i’m rambling… -
