Where Did Oasis Get Their Name?

2 years ago by Alan Cross |

There seems to be a number of explanations as to where Oasis got their name. The most common story seems to be that they nicked it from the name of a national chain women’s clothing shops in the UK. This was given more credence last year when we heard noises from the clothing chain that they were going to sue Oasis for copyright infringement—but nothing ever came of it.

Another version says that Oasis was the name of a recreation complex in Wiltshire, England. But the truth seems to be that Oasis was the name of the cab company that operated in one of Manchester’s neighbourhood. If that’s the case, then it’s Bonehead that came up with the name, not Liam or Noel.
