Peter Gabriel’s latest album Scratch My Back is the first part of a series of song exchanges in which Gabriel and other leading artists reinterpret each other’s songs. The album features interpretations of songs originally by Radiohead, Neil Young, Arcade Fire, Lou Reed, Talking Heads, Bon Iver and many more. To help craft his recording of the album’s eclectic array of cult favourites and classic tracks, Gabriel enlisted former Durutti Column member John Metcalfe, composer, arranger and the expertise of producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’, Lou Reed’s ‘Berlin’) and engineer, mixer and producer Tchad Blake (Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crow, Tom Waits).

The album’s interpretation of The Magnetic Fields’ cult classic "Book of Love" has become a YouTube sensation since soundtracking the departure of Zach Braff’s character J.D. at the end of eighth season of Scrubs. The video/s have amassed millions of views. Track Listing.

It’s not the end. It is a new beginning. That’s how Jay Malinowski is viewing the release of Bright Lights and Bruises, his first foray into the solo world outside of the cozy confines of his popular band Bedouin Soundclash. “I’m cleaning my side of the street before going back to work,” says Malinowski of the 13-track soul-purging recording while on a rare hiatus from his juno award-winning day job. “These are songs of things I lost along the way.” The self-produced acoustic-based album, which will be released on Bedouin’s own Pirate’s Blend record label shows off a different side of the artist — quieter, deeply personal and incredibly contemplative. Art of Time Ensemble is the creation of classically trained pianist Andrew Burashko. Not content to rehash basic classical repertoire Burashko and AOTE have become known for their daring interaction with the Toronto cultural scene. In this case, with the new album A Singer Must Die, former Barenaked Ladies songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Steven Page choose the repertoire which ranges from songs by Canadians Leonard Cohen, Jane Siberry, Rufus Wainwright, The Weakerthans and Barenaked Ladies, to Radiohead and Elvis Costello and lesser-known but excellent artists like The Magnetic Fields, The Mountain Goats and The Divine Comedy. In the wake of their critically celebrated 2008 album The Hungry Saw, the recharged and regenerated Tindersticks present their second North American release Falling Down A Mountain.
