HAWKSLEY WORKMAN
Meat
www.hawksleyworkman.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada
Delivered from the mythic Muskoka wilderness, Hawksley Workman arrived on the scene nearly a decade ago as a fearless figure with captivating presence and an undeniable vocal panache. This Juno Award winning wild card is never without an ace up his sleeve, and has already cemented his place as an emblem of Canadian culture here and abroad. Meat is largely a product of seclusion and upheaval, recorded in Hawksley’s studio with longtime friend and trusted engineer Stew Crookes. The album, number eleven in the Hawksley Workman catalogue, traverses in great leaps and bounds the stylistic differences between tracks, while always keeping one foot firmly planted in Hawksley Workman territory. END TIMES, is the sound of an artist growing older in uncertain times, an artist who has lost his great love while struggling with his faith in an increasingly hostile world teetering on self-destruction. END TIMES was largely self-recorded on an old four-track tape machine by Mark Oliver Everett, in his Los Angeles basement. Track Listing.

THE HOTRATS
Turn Ons

What began as Gaz and Danny taking a little time out from their Supergrass commitments for a studio lark has now resulted in a modern day psychedelic punk descendant of Bowie’s Pin Ups: often irreverent and sometimes initially unrecognizable but always loving and respectful re-imaginings of 12 classics spanning 40 years of rock, punk and even hip hop. Icons receiving the celebratory HOTRATS treatment range from the Kinks, Velvet Underground and Pink Floyd to the Sex Pistols, Beastie Boys and more. Track Listing.

THE DOUGHBOYS (NEW JERSEY)
Act Your Age
www.thedoughboysnj.com
Dist: F.A.B.
The Doughboys were one of the most popular of central Jersey’s bands in the 60’s, releasing two singles in 1967 on Bell Records – ‘Rhoda Mendelbaum’ & ‘Everybody Knows My Name’, as the band played weekly WMCA Good Guys shows all over the tri-state area. They were the house band at the legendary Café Wha? in Greenwich Village during the summer of ’68. It took almost 40 years for their first album and this, their second album, Act Your Rage, unleashes 16 new songs concocted with audio engineer Kurt Reil & mastering engineer Ed Stasium (Ramones, Smithereens, Marshall Crenshaw). The first single, ‘I’m Not Your Man’, has already been chosen Coolest Song In The World by Little Steven Van Zandt on his Sirius/XM Underground Garage show! The Doughboys’ first single off their debut album, ‘Black Sheep’, was likewise honored by Little Steven & named the #2 Coolest Song in the World for all of 2008!
