Tokyo Police Club Interview and Performance

2 years ago by Adam Morrison |

Tokyo Police Club formed in Newmarket in 2005 and released their debut EP, A Lesson in Crime, the following year. The Smith EP followed in 2007, and the band’s debut album, Elephant Shell, came out in April 2008. Their second full length, Champ, was released last month.

The band’s touring resume includes treks with Weezer and Metric and appearances at many major festivals, such as Edgefest, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, and Bonnaroo.

Singer/bassist Dave Monks and keyboardist Graham Wright told ExploreMusic’s Alan Cross about how they ended up appearing on "Desperate Housewives," the difference between the new album and the previous one, their thoughts on each of the new album’s tracks, their upcoming touring plans, and more, and they performed "Boots of Danger (Wait Up)" and "Hands Reversed."

Fun, interesting interview, followed by great acoustic performances of my two favorite songs on the new album. I loved it! I especially liked the Eukelele (spell?) in Boots of Danger (Wait Up). I can’t get enough of this band.
